- Q?
What is meant by the self-contained auxiliary apartment?
-
A.
The Flexxee Home design allows the Master Bedroom and Sitting Area to be easily converted into a ~400 sq ft (37 sq M) self-contained single bedroom, one bathroom apartment with kitchen and laundry area. Or optionally a 270 sq ft studio (25 sq M). This self-contained auxiliary apartment has it’s own entrance and is often leased out for additional income in areas where local zoning regulations permit such use. It is also easy to reclaim the auxiliary apartment space back into the main home area. Other uses for the self-contained auxiliary apartment include, guest/mother-in-law quarters and a place for medical personnel for assisted living situations.
- Q?
What about noise for rooms with no ceilings (LIDS)?
-
A.
Noise is a valid concern and something that requires consideration when choosing a Flexxee Home. The same thing is true of light and odor. While the Master Bedroom has a ceiling (LID) option, the other flexible areas do not. Thus the use of headphones when watching TV in a flexible bedroom would help from disturbing others. The use of throw rugs and taller partition walls also help to attenuate or contain sounds. Incense used in a bedroom created in flexible space may be smelled in one or more open areas due to the natural convective circulation.
- Q?
How long does it take to reconfigure a Flexxee Home interior layout?
-
A.
Just hours or minutes. When using lightweight freestanding partitions, one or two people can move or create a new area in 10 to 30 minutes. When using prefabricated, commercial partitions, it generally takes two people one to two hours to reconfigure a single partitioned area. Many areas are created by simply re-arranging furniture to create visual area delineations.
- Q?
Is the Flexxee home a dome?
-
A.
NO. Domes are great structures and very strong, however the Flexxee Home is NOT a dome. A Flexxee Home is constructed of bisecting dual arches that form a crown at the very top area. The corners are square and, other than the arches, the interior walls are vertical and not curved like in a dome. The Flexxee Home is NOT a Dome Home, but sometimes is referred to as a “home with a dome” due to the “dome look” of the crown formed by the bisecting arches at the top most part of the structure.
- Q?
Is a Flexxee Home considered a Pre-Fab or Modular Home?
-
A.
NO. A Flexxee Home is built entirely on site, and is considered 100% site built and will weigh over 350,000 pounds. The reason that it can be built so fast is the use of proprietary forming systems invented by Flexxee. Houses that are NOT 100% site built, often times have restrictions from communities, insurance providers, lenders, etc. A Flexxee Home is 100% site built using proven construction techniques. Therefore the Flexxee Home should have NONE of these restrictions.
